Thu Apr 6, 2006, 12:25 AM
It's easy to join; just devwatch the club and you'll be added.

I'm plotting out December for the edit of Baby... now there are some things I know are going to happen that for one reason or another got deleted from the fanfiction version... but they are coming back...

Now, here's where you come in... It's been a few years since I was in High School...*cough25cough*... So are there any things that happen in High Schools in December now that I should know about???

We don't do anything particular in December at my school, but then again, I go to a private Catholic school...><. A lot of highschools have winter formals, though.

Winter Homecoming is what my high school did when I was there. Had a basketball double-header (varsity girls and boys), crowned a queen just like fall Homecoming, and had a dance after the games were finished.

Though I may be thinking of January, and not December. Drat. Anyway, that's what I remember from high school (sophomore in college, whee.)

Not only does the English Language borrow words from other languages, it sometimes chases them down dark alleys, hits them over the head, and rifles through their pockets for loose grammar.

The choir sings Christmas Carols at an assembly in the gym, and the whole school ends up joining in. Some of the student body reps will place candy canes on all of the lockers, and friends will exchange gifts. Oh, and sometimes people will get really excited and put up some decorations (snowflakes and the like) but not mistletoe....that's been banished from the campus......

What can I say to stop you now?
Now that you've heard your drums and seen your dancers?
Now that you think your heart has all the answers?
in my high school we had a christmas formal, and just random events aroud the school like door decorating and tree decorating contests everything was christmas based. i went to a Catholic High School
oh forgot to mention for the tree decorating contests we didnt decorate trees per-say...we had to decorate our friends as christmas trees...so much fun ^.^ lol
we have "decorate the teacher" for us. you dress up your teacher from one period to be something (like a christmas tree or a santa or a kid covered in decorations. it started when it was "decorate the door" and one of the English classes taped their teacher to the door. we don't do much else....i go to a Catholic School and we have uniforms, so we get a "dress up" day (dress in nice clothes, no jeans and such) on the day before holidays and we have a potluck lunch.

At my school, we have a girl's choice Christmas dance. I haven't actually gone to one (because all the guys at my school are jerks and wont accept...) But usually they have a theme. First the girl has to come up with a creative way to ask the guy -

ie.
-Build a Snowman in his yard with a sign asking him to go [or just for kicks, put it INSIDE the snowman and leave a note that says he has to decimate the thing...]
-Get a mini-Christmas tree and decorate it with notes asking him to go
-Make him treats and ask him in frosting
-anything else, really...school announcments, during assembleys...

Then the couple or group does some kind of activity before the dance, like going sledding, ice-blocking (boy is that interesting in winter...), or even just building snowmen.

The theme can really be anything. Sometimes the tables have individual themes, other times they all share a theme. This last year's theme was ' :snowflake: Winter Wonderland :snowflake: ' and there were a ton of hole punch and cut out snowflakes everywhere --on the floor, on the tables, hanging on the walls...

The activities and the way to ask arent really REQUIRED, but where I live (Utah) its kind of a tradition. Plus, it makes the activity all the more fun and memorable.
